Creator Kyle Higgins posted earlier tonight on Twitter that he had received word from the publisher that the second issue of C.O.W.L. had sold out at a distributor level. The first issue sold just under 21K copies, not quite breaking the top 100 for Diamond. The series is the first for Higgins (Nightwing) at Image, and has been very successful for a relatively unheralded title.
When asked whether or not there would be a second printing, Higgins stated that it would depend on reorder amounts.
We have reached out to Image in an attempt to determine if sales on this title were higher or lower than those for issue #1. If the buzz around the first issue created enough lift, C.O.W.L. may break Diamond’s Top 100 for the month of June.
C.O.W.L. chronicles the story of the Chicago Organized Workers League, an organization of unionized superhuman protectors in 1960s Chicago. You can read our review of the second issue HERE.
Just got the word that C.O.W.L. 2 is sold out at Diamond! Thank you to everyone who’s picked up a copy! #cowlcomic
