Howtoons is a remarkable idea for a comic. By introducing young people to scientific concepts in a narrative form, it makes them far easier to understand and, hopefully, apply.
The latest Howtoons endeavor from creators Fred Van Lente (Archer and Armstrong) Tom Fowler (Quantum and Woody) and Eisner-winning colorist Jordie Bellaire, features a duo of futuristic kids living in an energy-poor world and their struggles to adapt and survive in that environment, using only their wits.
With energy policy front and center in most political and economic debates, this volume of Howtoons could not come at a better time. The complex issues being discussed will define the struggles facing the generation which makes up its target demographic, so any means by which they can be educated as to the realities, challenges, and possible solutions should be much heralded.
The creative team assembled is among the best working today, and Van Lente in particular has had a tendency towards addressing social issues such as economic inequality in his other works as well.
The good folks at Image have been kind enough to provide a six-page preview for your viewing pleasure. Just make sure to wear proper eye protection.
We’ll certainly be keeping a close eye on this one when it comes out. Will you?
