Image Sets October Release for HERE’S NEGAN Hardcover

Here’s Negan, the origin story of one of the most villainous characters in modern American pop culture, is headed to bookshelves.

Few independent comic book properties have ever been as successful as Robert Kirkman‘s The Walking Dead, and few independent comic characters are as iconic as Negan. After a phenomenal run in the pages of the monthly comic and a solid turn by actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the TV show, Image released the early adventures of the character as a set of serials in the pages of Image+ magazine.

Now the publisher is collecting the serials into a hardcover edition, which will be released in stores the second week of October.

The collection features a script by series creator Kirkman as well as art from Charlie Adlard, the creative team behind the bulk of the original Walking Dead stories.

Nearly every volume of the primary series over the last five years has topped graphic novel charts on release. If Here’s Negan can do the same, it bodes well for the durability of The Walking Dead‘s brand beyond the core story.

PORTLAND, OR, 06/19/2017 — Bestselling, award-winning pop culture phenomenon Robert Kirkman (THE WALKING DEAD, OUTCAST BY KIRKMAN & AZACETA) and artist Charlie Adlard (THE WALKING DEAD) spin the backstory for one of the most controversial and complex characters in THE WALKING DEAD history in THE WALKING DEAD: HERE’S NEGAN! This special backstory was first serialized in Image+ magazine and will be collected in its entirety into a hardcover edition and made available through Image Comics/Skybound Entertainment this October.

Who is Negan? Since his debut in THE WALKING DEAD #100, the charismatic psychopath has antagonized Rick Grimes, murdered his friend with a baseball bat wrapped in barb wire (which he calls “Lucille”), and led the Saviors into war against Alexandria and the neighboring communities.

THE WALKING DEAD: HERE’S NEGAN! hardcover (Diamond Code JUL170766, ISBN: 978-1-5343-0327-0) will be available for $19.99 in comic book retailers on Wednesday, October 4th and in bookstores on Tuesday, October 10th. The final order cutoff deadline for comic book retailers is Monday, August 7th.

Finally it’s here! Even though Image + has only released 4 pages at time those pages have been so packed with the missing information of Negan’s story that it’s been enough to keep you buzzing to the next month. Ideally I would have liked it in one hit but is been a worthwhile journey after years of wondering.
I will still continue to get Image + after Here’s Negan is finished, really cool magazine and I usually end up adding a new series to my standing orders every two months based upon the previews and articles inside.
