Phil Hester and John McCrea‘s Mythic has been a critical and sales success for Image Comics, and is now headed from longboxes to bookshelves across fandom.
The Berkeley-based independent comic book publisher announced today that the first arc of the series will be released in trade at the end of June, with comic book shops getting first crack on the 22nd and the wider bookstore market getting into the game on the 28th.
The first volume of Mythic collects eight issues instead of the standard six, which is why the trade will be priced at $16.99 instead of Image’s usual $9.99 first-volume price point.
Hester spoke on Twitter about the larger release, stating that the long first arc is the reason that the first trade took so long to hit stores.
