Hickman’s BLACK MONDAY MURDERS Sells Out, Heads Back to Print

When it comes to independent comics, there are few names bigger than that of Jonathan Hickman. Nearly every creator-owned title with his name attached has garnered huge fan interest at the outset, and Black Monday Murders has proven to be no different.

Despite a $5.99 price tag for the 52-page debut issue, Image Comics announced today that the first printing has sold out at the distributor level and will be heading back to press for a second print.

While solid numbers will not be available until August sales are finalized in early September, Black Monday Murders is similar in size, scope, and price point to Hickman’s Dying and the Dead, which sold just over 15,000 copies for its debut. If Black Monday Murders can approach that threshold, it should be considered a solid hit for a writer who seems to turn them out regularly.

The re-release is set to be on shelves on September 14, 2016.

The hot summer release launches
to overwhelming fan enthusiasm

New York Times bestselling writer Jonathan Hickman (EAST OF WEST) and artist Tomm Coker (Undying Love) launched one of the hottest new series of the summer in THE BLACK MONDAY MURDERS. In order to keep copies on the shelf, Image Comics is pleased to announce that the debut issue will be rushed to a second printing.

THE BLACK MONDAY MURDERS is classic occultism where the various schools of magic are actually clandestine banking cartels who control all of society: a secret world where vampire Russian oligarchs, Black popes, enchanted American aristocrats, and hitmen from the International Monetary Fund work together to keep ALL OF US in our proper place.

THE BLACK MONDAY MURDERS #1 remains available for purchase across all digital platforms, including the Image Comics website (imagecomics.com), the official Image Comics iOS app, Comixology’s website (comixology.com), iOS, Android, and Google Play.

THE BLACK MONDAY MURDERS #1, 2nd printing (Diamond Code JUL168168) as well as THE BLACK MONDAY MURDERS #2 (Diamond Code JUL160739) will be available in stores on Wednesday, September 14th. The final order cutoff date for retailers is Monday, August 22nd.
