First Look at Josh Brolin as Cable in “Deadpool 2” Hits the Web!

Just last week, Deadpool 2‘s star and driving creative force Ryan Reynolds blew the doors of the inter webs by tweeting a look at Zazie Beetz as Domino in the upcoming sequel. Today, Reynolds tweeted out the first pictures of another hotly-anticipated Marvel character to be featured in the sequel; the popular time-displaced old soldier Cable, as played by Josh Brolin. And the photos didn’t disappoint.

The first tweet offers a close-up view of Brolin as Cable, showing a remarkably faithful interpretation of the character, right down to his flashing telekinetic eye and distinctive star-shaped scar.

Reynolds’ next tweet a few minutes later offered even more detail for long-time fans of the characters, as it was accompanied by a full-body shot of Brolin in costume as the time-tossed mutant.

This photo shows Cable’s cybernetic arm, as well as hints at the character’s infection by the techno-organic virus, an illness from his futuristic society that transforms organic material into technology, which Cable long used his mutant mental powers to hold in check. The picture shows Cable is also carrying a teddy-bear, leading comic-book fans to wonder if this is a reference to the character’s surrogate daughter and possible mutant messiah Hope Summers.

And, of course, the photo also gives us a look at another staple of character, namely his propensity for brandishing ridiculously over-sized futuristic firearms. And eagled-eyed fans will spot, in true hilarious Deadpool fashion, that Cable’s gun goes up to 11.

What do you think, Cable-fans, does Brolin’s look live up to your hopes? Is Brolin totally badass, insanely badass, or mind-blowingly badass? Let us know in the comments!

Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 hits theatres June 1, 2018.
