RECAP/REVIEW Legends of Tomorrow 2×03 “Shogun”

RECAP/REVIEW Legends of Tomorrow 2×03 “Shogun”

This week’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow, set in feudal Japan and titled “Shogun,” could have been a disaster.  Instead, it has some of the most interesting character drama so far this season, and included an inoffensive heterosexual subplot to boot. The episode opens with Vixen beating up the entire Legends team in order to get to Mick, who she believes murdered Rex Tyler.  Obviously, we know that was Reverse Flash, but she doesn’t know…

#WithWonderWoman: Wonder Woman Named Honorary UN Ambassador

The biggest news in Wonder Woman right now is, surprisingly, not her 75th anniversary.  Something much better takes the honor:  The UN has named her an Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls.  Guests at the ceremony Lynda Carter, Gal Gadot, DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson, and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins. At the ceremony, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, Cristina Gallach, stated: “While the world has achieved progress towards gender equality,…

TV REVIEW: Gotham 3×05 – Betrayal, deception and young love

Deeper goes Gotham down the rabbit hole. This season of Gotham has got to be the most enjoyable yet. It has finally become able to delve deeper into the twisted core that the city decays to, hinting to the inevitable need of the Dark Knight. Season three feels like the ride that we all intended to tag along on when Gotham first premiered. Each character and their respective actor/actress have become unique to the show…

REVIEW: Legends of Tomorrow season premier a solid episode of series.

REVIEW: Legends of Tomorrow season premier a solid episode of series.

Legends of Tomorrow premiered tonight, rounding out a four-day slate of 8pm DC superhero shows on The CW.  I tuned in, having followed this show from the beginning, with a lot of excitement. It didn’t disappoint, but to be honest, it didn’t really rock my world, either.  With Hawkgirl and Captain Cold no longer on the team, all of my favorite character dynamics don’t exist anymore.  Additionally, Hawkgirl’s exit means that White Canary has no…

TV REVIEW: Gotham 3.3- What a mad city indeed

What a mad city Gotham is indeed, isn’t it my dear Alice? Living up to Gotham’s season motto, “Mad City”, the third episode of this season cranks the crazy meter up a few notches. Let’s start off with Benedict Samuel’s debut as Jervis Tetch, a.k.a. the Mad Hatter. Teach arrives in Gotham in search of his missing sister, Alice (Naian Gonzalez Norvind), while performing at Barbara’s nightclub and hypnotizing, robbing and killing the odd rich…

New SUPERGIRL S2 Trailer namedrops Gotham, glimpses Lena Luthor

Greetings, all, from National City!  Supergirl just released their second Season 2 trailer.  Clocking in at just over a minute long, this trailer spotlights Kara Zor-El’s slightly more famous cousin.  With the Man of Steel on the scene, things get fast and furious — and also ‘super’ funny. This looks like the folks at Supergirl intend to keep the show’s present tone, a good sign given the CW’s reputation for darker shows for the teen set,…

TV REVIEW: Gotham 3.2- A wildfire resulting in a small burn

Following last weeks gripping season three premier, Gotham falters on its second episode, wrapping up open questions nicely yet leaving a bitter aftertaste. After last week’s premier, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) had been kidnapped by the Court of Owls, Ivy had been seemingly killed by one of Fish Mooney’s (Jada Pinkett-Smith) fellow Indian Hill inmates, creating mass panic throughout Gotham. This week’s episode opens where it left off, Bruce coming out of his chloroformed slumber…

REVIEW: Superman #7- Small town fun

REVIEW: Superman #7- Small town fun

Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason have a  reoccurring knack of tapping into the vein of nostalgic Superman, and pumping that sucker dry. Not only do the pair succeed in making this series feel like the Superman you grew up with, but also allow you a brighter look on the character, if that’s even possible. In Superman #7, since Superman has already established his place as Earth’s new Superman, it’s time for the “Smith”…
