The new owners of Valiant Comics are wasting no time in finding ways to make the most of their new toys, namely Bloodshot.
Deadline is reporting the Sony Pictures has signed a deal with Valiant Entertainment heads Jason Kothari and Dinesh Shamdasani to produce a live-action feature based on Valiant’s Bloodshot series.
While no release date has been set and no casting announcements made, this marks a major step for the relaunched brand, as they look to enter the highly competitive world of super-hero films.
The film will be produced by Neal Moritz, the man behind the Seth Rogan Green Hornet update and the forthcoming reboot of the science-fiction classic Total Recall.
Bloodshot was one of Valiant’s original line-up of characters, and is considered by many to be the most recognizable character under the brand. The series achieved a high rate of commercial success during its original run, and was the first series to be announced as a part of the Valiant relaunch when Kothari and Shamdasani (both longtime fans and contributors to the Valiant message boards) purchased the intellectual property in order to bring it out of mothballs.
