Production has begun on Iron Fist, the latest collaboration between Netflix and Marvel. The first images from the New York set have been released, which reveal a shoeless Finn Jones skipping through the streets.

Judging by the pictures, it appears that this takes place when Danny Rand/Iron Fist returns home to New York City for the first time in years after living in the mystical city of K’un-L’un for the past decade.
Once Iron Fist has finished shooting, all four of the Netflix Marvel heroes, Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Kristen Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Jones), will unite together for the fifth Marvel Netflix series The Defenders. It was revealed earlier this month that the superhero team-up show will begin production later this year.
The cast for Iron Fist currently consists of Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, David Wenham as Harold Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, and Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum. Carrie-Anne Moss’s Jeryn Hogarth from Jessica Jones may appear on the show due to her character’s connection to Iron Fist in the comics but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for the show from Marvel: “Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.”
No release date has been set for Iron Fist just yet, but it will most likely debut on Netflix sometime in 2017.
