Liefeld returns to Deadpool

Marvel has announced that legendary creator Rob Liefeld will return to Deadpool in 2016, a character he helped create during his tenure at the House of Ideas in the 90’s. He will return to the “Merc with a Mouth” to tell a brand new story in the original graphic novel Deadpool: Bad Blood alongside X-Men ’92 writers Chris Sims and Chad Bowers.

indexLiefeld co-created Deadpool with Fabian Nicieza as part of their run on New Mutants, a series that also saw the creation of fan-favorites like Cable and Domino. Deadpool was first introduced in New Mutants #98 and has since grown to be one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel universe, known for his quick wits, healing abilities, lethal force and love for Chimichangas.

When describing his return to the character in an interview with comicbook.com, Liefeld said “I’m fortunate that I have a great legacy with the company and they’ve always made me feel welcome every time I come back.” When asked about his motivations for returning with a graphic novel, Liefeld added “No single issue breaks and cliff hangers allow for greater momentum building the tale. The format has tremendous storytelling opportunities

The graphic novel will hit the shelves some time next year, though an exact date has not been confirmed yet.
