With Spider-Man’s newest reboot just over the horizon, Sony is looking into possible bad guys for the web head to fight on his third cinematic outing and it sounds like they might be looking into Sergei Kravinoff aka Kraven the Hunter to be his next life-action threat.
According to Heroic Hollywood, a source at Sony claimed that Karen Moy, the vice president of creative affairs recently purchased a copy of the comic Kraven’s Last Hunt on Amazon.
Written by J. M. DeMatteis and penciled by Mike Zeck, Kraven’s Last Hunt was first printed in 1987 and tells the story of Spider-Man’s final battle (at the time) with Kraven The Hunter. It is considered by fans to be one of the greatest Spider-Man stories.
In the comics, Kraven the Hunter is considered the world’s greatest big game hunter. After stalking and killing every animal known to man, Kraven becomes obsessed with hunting, capturing, and killing Spider-Man and believes that by doing so would cement his place in history as the worlds greatest hunter. Kraven has superhuman strength, agility, and senses that allow him to take down any prey with just his bare hands.
Previous rumors suggested that Vulture and Scorpion would serve as Spider-Man’s foes in the reboot film, but screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have debunked those claims, saying “nothing is certain yet” in regard to the cast. They have yet to comment on this claim as well so there is a good chance that Kraven may not be their final choice either.
In the meantime, Tom Holland is currently suiting up to make his Spider-Man debut in Captain America: Civil War on May 6, which will then be followed by the standalone Spider-Man film on July 28, 2017.
