Jason Aaron, the current writer on Star Wars, Doctor Strange, and The Mighty Thor, has signed an exclusive agreement with Marvel Comics. This means the fan favourite writer will focus on Marvel properties for the foreseeable future. Aaron has a long history of working with the House of Ideas, with past writing duties on Thor: God of Thunder, Thor, Ghost Rider, Incredible Hulk, Avengers vs X-Men, and Original Sin just to name a few.
In addition to working for DC and Marvel on well-established characters, Aaron has also had successful creator-owned efforts with Southern Bastards alongside Jason Latour, and The Goddamned with R.M. Guera, both published by Image Comics. It is likely that this new deal with Marvel includes a clause that will allow the busy writer to keep working on his creator-owned projects, as neither Aaron nor Image have given any indication that any of the above mentioned comics are coming to an end in the near future.
In the official press release from Marvel, Aaron said “…right now I am seriously having the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire career. Between The Mighty Thor, Doctor Strange and Star Wars, I have enough cool stuff on my plate to keep me happy for many many months to come.” In the same release, Editor-in-Chielf Axel Alonso said “Jason Aaron will continue to bring his big, bald beautiful brain to the Marvel Universe,” before adding “I can finally exhale.”
