Image Reunites Ellis and Shalvey for INJECTION in May

Injection #1 CoverIndependent comic book publisher Image Comics has announced the release date for Injection, a new series from writer Warren Ellis and artist Declan Shalvey, a creative team who previously worked together on Moon Knight for Marvel Comics. Joining them will be colorist Jordie Bellaire, who was awarded the Eisner Award in 2014 for her work on The Wake.

The publisher described the series in a press release as being “set in a dystopian future where the world has been poisoned.”

The series was initially announced back in July, but is now being solicited for release in the second week of May.

In an interview with USA Today, Ellis described the series’ perspective about the state of global affairs, saying “The world is pretty pre-apocalyptic right now, from some angles, but we just dawdle along without really paying attention.

“The signs of impending doom are mostly under the radar and seen out of the corner of our eye. But they’re happening more and more often. Soon enough, people will start noticing, despite the best efforts of our cast.””
