IDW Publishing has announced six new titles that will receive their own Artist’s Editions, an Eisner Award-winning series focusing on the original artwork of comic classics and legendary artists. Directly from the IDW website:
AN ARTIST’S EDITION PRESENTS COMPLETE STORIES WITH EACH PAGE SCANNED FROM THE ACTUAL ORIGINAL ART. While appearing to be in black and white, each page was scanned in color to mimic as closely as possible the experience of viewing the actual original art-for instance, corrections and blue pencils. Each page is printed the same size as drawn, and the paper selected is as close as possible to the original art board.
The new Artist’s Editions announced will highlight the original art of Charles Schulz’ work on his iconic Peanuts strip, Jim Steranko’s Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, Mike Mignola’s Hellboy artwork, Dave Gibbons’ work on Watchmen, a collection of Marvel comic covers featuring the original artwork of Art Adams, John Buscema, John Byrne, Jack Kirby, Frank Miller, Jim Starlin, Jim Steranko, Bernie Wrightson and more, plus an Artist’s Edition of Archie Goodwin and Walter Simonson’s Manhunter.
The Peanuts: Artist’s Edition was released in stores on June 18. Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Artist’s Edition, Hellboy: Artist’s Edition, and Watchmen: Artifact Edition, will be available in July. Marvel Covers: Artist’s Edition will be available in August and Walter Simonson’s Manhunter & Other Stories: Artist’s Edition will be out some time in September.
