Flash Holds The Ratings Line for Season 2, Retains CW Crown


The second season of CW’s The Flash is now in the books, and the ratings are in for the season finale.

The final episode of season two, entitled “The Race of His Life”, netted 3.3 million viewers and scored a 1.2 among the key 18-49 demographic. Both numbers are slight dips from the previous episode. On average, though, The Flash had a very solid sophomore season from a ratings perspective. The second season averaged 3.53 million viewers over the course of 23 episodes, down only 8.03% from the first season. Compared to sister show Arrow, which lost over 19% of its viewership between seasons one and two, The Flash’s ability to retain the overwhelming majority of its audience has to be an encouraging sign for The CW.

Screen Shot 2016-05-25 at 10.45.05 AMThe Flash remains CW’s highest rated program, and appears to have found its relative sweet spot, hovering largely between 3.3 and 3.6 million viewers per week. Whether the show can retain its crown once CBS refugee Supergirl joins the CW’s roster next season will remain to be seen, but this season of The Flash was certainly a success from a ratings perspective for the network.
