Fans Cry for Justice, DC Responds

Young Justice Cancelled

This week, DC Entertainment announced the cancellation of two popular shows on its DC Nation block of programming. Both Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series will be ending at the conclusion of their current seasons.

Response from followers of the two shows was understandably less than positive, so yesterday DC Comics released a statement through its online platforms responding to the fans’ concerns.

DCYJGLTASStatement Reactions to this statement were largely positive in social media metric terms, but those who responded in the comments were a good deal more critical.

DC Animation has been one of the bright spots in a multimedia plan that seems to have little cohesion at present. The studio has developed a solid reputation for putting out high-quality work, including the recently released conclusion of its animated Dark Knight Returns, an adaptation of the Frank Miller classic. The common thread was a request for the company to firmly establish a direction and to clue fans in on as to what that direction might be.

There is a great deal of turmoil at DC Entertainment of late, and the community is clearly anxious to see the studio put the pieces together.

I’ve heard that both shows will be available on Netflix Streaming soon as well. Have you any info on this? Thanks and good post!

    • Victor, I haven’t been able to find any information directly pertaining to that, but Young Justice is available from Netflix’s DVD delivery service, and much of DC’s catalogue of animated films have made their way to streaming, so it seems within the realm of possibility.

Thanks for responding, Josh! I just read that March 30th will be the debut date for GL and maybe YJ. It was part of that big deal with DC, WB, Netflix and Turner Broadcasting that took place a while back I suppose. I can’t wait! Thanks again.

        • Thanks for the tip, Joe.

I was able to find this press release from Netflix, and it does mention that Green Lantern is one of the programs that will be streaming starting in March. Young Justice was not mentioned, but there is some ambiguity as to the complete slate of shows.

I’ve reached out to DC on Twitter and Facebook, and I’d encourage you to do the same. Perhaps we can get some answers!
