A little less than a month ago, Dynamite Entertainment announced a new comic miniseries that would feature the unlikely partnering of director Quentin Tarantino’s Django character from his hit film Django Unchained and Spanish swashbuckler Zorro. Just as that comic pairing began sinking in to the minds of readers, Dynamite announced this week they would be releasing a new comic miniseries pitting the world’s greatest detective, Sherlock Holmes, against history’s greatest escape artist, Harry Houdini.
The title of the series is actually a bit misleading. Though both characters are in fact featured they are not exactly at war with one another. Instead, they must combine forces to solve the mystery of a strange mystic attempting to destroy Houdini’s career.
While Holmes and Houdini may initially be allies in the series, Dynamite assures us that thanks to the immense level of “professional pride” harbored by both, “it is only a matter of time until the deadliest sin has them facing off.” What could that sin possibly be? Drugs? Sex? MURDER? You’ll have to wait for the release of the book to find out!
Sherlock Holmes vs. Harry Houdini will feature the creative team of the acclaimed series Kill Shakespeare, Anthony Del Col and Conor McCreery. Issue #1 is set to hit stands some time this October.
