The Death and Return of Superman is getting a two-part animated feature film.
One of the most iconic comics, The Death and Return of Superman, is getting a feature film adaptation. The adaptation is expected to be a more faithful adaptation of the 1992 comic. The previous Superman: Doomsday movie from 2007 had mixed reviews from both fans and reviewers. That film was the first feature animated film in what for some is one of the best parts of DC’s film adaptations, especially for those who aren’t as happy with the DCEU films. It left many fans unhappy because it condensed the wide ranging story and left out many key details.
Announced at San Diego Comic Con’s film premiere of Batman and Harley Quinn, the new 2 part adaptation will release the first part in 2018. The second part, named Reign of the Supermen, is expected in 2019.
The adaptation will follow Batman: Gotham by Gaslight‘s feature film based on the 1989 Elseworlds comic. That film is expected to be released in 2018 as well. Also announced at the panel was Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay.
