The CW Network’s adaptation of Vertigo Comics’ iZombie will be hitting airwaves next month and the network is beginning the full-scale publicity push.
If you’ve watched any CW programming in the last few weeks, then you’ve seen the flooding of commercial blocks with trailers for the new series, and now the network has released a new promotional poster in advance of the pilot.
The iZombie series stars Rose McIver as Olivia Moore, Malcolm Goodwin as Clive Babineaux, and Rahul Kohli as Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti. It is based on the comic book series of the same name by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred. The series ran only twenty-eight issues, concluding in August of 2012, so it is Vertigo will not enjoy the same bump in sales experienced by television’s dominant zombie franchise, The Walking Dead, which saw ever-increasing readership in the wake of the successful AMC television series.
The pilot episode of iZombie premieres on Tuesday, March 17 at 9/8c, following the highly successful superhero series The Flash, also from DC Entertainment. The network made the surprising move of bumping it’s long-running Supernatural from its regular timeslot in favor of the premiere, likely hoping that iZombie will retain viewers from The Flash, which ranked #2 in the coveted 18-34 demographic for it’s last episode.
If iZombie can perform similarly to The Flash, it will be the most successful Vertigo adaptation to date, as NBC’s Hellblazer-inspired Constantine series is still on the bubble for renewal.
