The Hollywood Reporter’s Lesley Goldberg reports that the CW Network is looking to expand its super-hero offerings beyond their current Arrow and planned Flash series, with an eye towards Golden Age mainstay Rex “Hourman” Tyler.
Should Hourman be picked up, that would bring the total number of comic-book adaptations on the CW to three, while Warner Brothers also has Gotham in development at Fox and Constantine in development at NBC. Hourman would make an interesting addition, particularly given the nature of his powers, which rely on hour-long boosts that come in the form of the Miraclo pill. Whether the CW chooses to maintain this element (which would give their lead what amounts to a reliance on performance-enhancing drugs) will be intriguing.
The show is to be scripted by veteran writer Michael Caleo (Ironside, Sopranos), who will also co-produce the show.
