Invincible is, by many accounts, the single best super hero title published outside of DC or Marvel Comics. Image Comics, the largest independent comic book publisher in the world, has successfully parlayed Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker‘s iconic creation into the cornerstone of their own super-heroic franchise.
Walker was the original artist for the Invincible series, having penciled both covers and interiors for the first seven-issue arc before moving to covers and back-up features after being replaced by Ryan Ottley.
While Walker has returned to Invincible periodically for single issues, today Image announced that Walker will rejoin the series for a six-issue arc beginning with issue #127 in April.
Image has released a five-page preview of Walker’s interior artwork for the first issue of the arc, which you can check out below.

INVINCIBLE CO-CREATOR AND SERIES ARTIST CORY WALKER RETURNS, ARTWORK REVEALED
Early pages from beloved co-creator unveiled
in time for new story arc
Skybound/Image is pleased to reveal early preview pages by series artist Cory Walker and tease the beginning of a new chapter in the INVINCIBLE saga.
New York Times bestselling author, multiple award-winning creator, and pop culture phenomenon Robert Kirkman (THE WALKING DEAD, OUTCAST BY KIRKMAN & AZACETA) reunites with original series artist Walker for the action-packed, plot-twisting new story arc coming this April from Image/Skybound.
In INVINCIBLE #127, Mark has returned from the past… to a very different future. Now he has to pick up the pieces of his life and try to put them back together.
“It’s great to be working with Cory again on Invincible,” said Kirkman. “This is a very special thing for me, while Cory has come back for a couple of issues here and there, this is the real deal—six FULL issues! This is the first time since the first six issues that Cory and I have done a consecutive run on this book. It’s very exciting, and as you will see in this issue, Cory is absolutely bringing his A-Game… and just wait until you see what’s coming.”
INVINCIBLE #127 (Diamond Code FEB160514) will hit comic book stores on Wednesday, April 20th. The final order cutoff deadline for comic book retailers is Monday, March 28th.
