Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 casts Conan O’Brian

New York Comic Con and TVGuide.com both broke the news on Saturday that legendary talk show host Conan O’Brian will provide voiceover work for the upcoming animated movie Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2. Fittingly, O’Brian will play talk show host David Endocrine.

“I’ve got a great affection for animation,” says O’Brien. “I’ve always been interested in drawing, and I grew up on the Warner Bros. cartoons — which is where I think I learned a lot of my comedy.”

**EXTREMELY OLD SPOILER AHEAD** For those of you unfamiliar with the movie’s place of origin, the seminal graphic novel by Frank Miller, David Endocrine and his audience are ambushed during an interview with Joker. The Clown Prince of Crime uses his deadly “Joker Toxin” to gas Endocrine and his audience, killing them almost instantly. Just how close the animated movie will stay true to the book will be interesting to see, especially with O’Brian’s humorous voiceovers attached.

Conan will be working alongside Peter Weller, who plays the voice of Batman, Michael Emerson who plays The Joker, Ariel Winter as Robin, David Selby as Commissioner Gordon, Mark Valley as Superman and Michael McKean as Dr. Wolper.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 will be available on Blu-Ray, DVD, digital download and On-Demand in early 2013.
