Alex de Campi To Pen Follow-Up to Gindhouse: Doors Open at Midnight

Darkhorse Comics confirmed this week that writer Alex de Campi (Smoke/Ashes, Lady Zorro) will be penning a follow-up mini-series to his Grindhouse: Doors Open at Midnight release last year. The original limited, eight-issue series contained eight different exploitation-style story lines inspired by B-movies and shock cinema of the 1970s-’80s. USA Today called it the “most insane read of 2013” while Bloody Disgusting said “it will arouse, disgust, and shock you.” From everything to prison riots, puritanical curses, and bee women from outer space, Grindhouse became a sleeper hit for Darkhorse leaving fans wanting more. Luckily for them, de Campi’s next series will follow the same formula. Titled Grindhouse: Drive In, Bleed Out, Darkhorse promises the new series will be “meaner, badder, and dirtier than ever,” with stories involving a horror-filled holiday slay ride, a Barbarella-esque sex fest, and even a sequel to an issue from the previous series, Bee Vixens from Mars. “Grindhouse: Drive, Bleed Out #1″ will hit stores on November 12, 2014.
