JLA#1-USA“JLA #1”
Unless you’ve been hiding under a proverbial rock for the last year, this is a book you are probably well-aware of. Penned by superstar scribe Geoff Johns with art by David Finch, JLA will showcase a diverse blend of characters from across the New 52 universe. With a starting roll-call including the Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Catwoman, Vibe, Katana, and the new Green Lantern, Baz, this roster is easily the most ethnically and culturally varied in comics.

Toss in the fact that you can purchase variant covers for all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and the US protectorates, this is the book everyone will be talking about this week. Don’t miss out..

revival#7“REVIVAL #7”
Revival is another book that, if you haven’t been reading, you’ll have to catch up on, but it’s well-worth the time and money to do so. The characters are wonderfully realized, the story a brilliant twist on an established genre, and is legitimately frightening. Seeley and Norton follow none of the rules, making each issue a thrill ride that leaves you wondering what could possibly happen next.

In other words, do your homework and snap this up. It’s easily one of the best series on shelves, period.

Layout 1“KILL SHAKESPEARE: TOB #1”
Imagine a world where the timeless characters created by William Shakespeare live on, revering the prolific playwright as a god, and contending with problems that you might face on a daily basis.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, then jump on this new series while its fresh. If you’re uncertain, Jeff has you covered with an advance review HERE.

GIJOE#1“G.I. JOE #1”
It is exceedingly rare for any comic, let alone a licensed property, to deal with issues of relevance and importance to the real world. With their relaunched G.I. Joe series, IDW is boldly going where vet few books have dared to tread.

Posse Comitatus. Domestic terrorism. Public perception of armed forces.

These are themes that you would expect to see in a small indie book featuring creator-owned characters. IDW should be rewarded for treading dangerous and controversial ground, so be sure to pick this title up.

If you’re still not sure, check out Jeff’s second Advance Review HERE for an in-depth look.
