ADVANCE SCOUT: 5 Books to Look For This Wednesday (1/29/13)

Each week, the Capeless Crew picks out those books that we think are most worthy of your dollars and attention. Without further ado, here are this week’s picks!

invincible100“INVINCIBLE #100”
Robert Kirkman has created a character who may well be the first great super hero creation of the 21st century. He has shepherded Mark Grayson through an astonishing amount of adventures in his first 100 issues, and the 100th issue brings that chapter of this series to a magnificent close.

The way in which the final pages set up the next chapter of this series is tremendously exciting. Go, give it a read. Get on board now. You won’t regret it.

You will read a comic about a volleyball player or you will regret it.

We give a lot of love to this series on Capeless, and deservedly so. This issue is particularly special, however.

As we reported last month, Matt Fraction, the writer on Hawkeye, will be donating his check from the sales of the book to Hurricane Sandy relief.

Even if you haven’t purchased this book in the past, this is a perfect time to support a worthy cause while treating yourself to some excellent heroics..

Avengers#4“AVENGERS #4”
With the first arc now complete, Hickman begins the second chapter of his run on Marvel’s flagship title. The first arc met with mixed reviews, but this is still sure to be one of the most talked-about books of the week.

DrWhoPOTcover“DR WHO: PRISONERS OF TIME #1”
One of the most anticipate releases from IDW kicking off the 50th anniversary year of the long running sci-fi franchise, this mini-series will span the entire Whoniverse in 2013! This issue presents an adventure with the first doctor and his companions in Victorian-era London and we are curious about how this series will satisfy long time fans and bring in new readers.
