Despite rumors claiming that Marvel’s hit Netflix series Daredevil would launch its second season on the same day as DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the streaming service has finally set the record straight and has given us an official release date along with a new teaser and poster.
According to the teaser trailer, the second season of the show will arrive on March 18 and includes a more in-depth look at the battles Matt Murdock’s titular superhero will have to take on. This season will see the introduction of the Punisher as both the new vigilante in Hell’s Kitchen and the new antagonist that Daredevil will have to square off against. Other popular characters like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage might possibly make a crossover cameo appearance in at least one episode before they all come together to form the Defenders in the near future.
We even have a new synopsis for the season that you can find below:
Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios.
Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.
New images were also released last week via Entertainment Weekly for the new season that included more detailed looks at Elektra (Elodie Yung) and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). Both characters play important parts in the Daredevil story, and will be making their first appearances in both the show and in the MCU.
