Each week, the Capeless Crew picks out those books that we think are most worthy of your dollars and attention. Without further ado, here are this week’s picks!

AVENGERS #1
Completing his meteoric rise to the top of the comic book firmament, Jonathan Hickman takes over Marvel’s flagship title this week. The fan-favorite writer has had very few failures since he crashed onto the scene, and doesn’t look to change any time soon. This is where it will all be happening for Marvel, so get in on the ground floor and grab this book before you do anything else. The good folks over at Multiversity Comics have a great four-page preview of the art, so be sure to drop in and check it out!

(w) Matt Fraction (a) Javier PulidoHAWKEYE #5
Matt Fraction’s grounded adventures of the avenging archer have been some of the best stories in comics since the series began. Even though regular series artist David Aja is away for a couple of issues, Javier Pulido’s style is similar enough that it’s hard to notice the difference. It’s never too late to start reading an awesome series, and HAWKEYE is definitely that. Read it. Now.

Batman No Man's Land - Gallery_Page_16_Image_0001BATMAN: NO MAN’S LAND VOL 4 TPB
This is the final trade for the more complete story of No Man’s Land that DC has published. Just that fact that peripheral issues like Azrael: Agent of the Bat was including in this collection was stunning, and now the final volume will just complete the set. Between this and the Batman: Knightfall re-release, your bookshelf will love this nicely redone collection.

DTC_Cv15DETECTIVE COMICS #15
This newest chapter of the Death of the Family story line will be written by John Layman. After last week’s Chew #30,  expect to see a very creepy, intense type of vibe from Layman with his take of Joker.

coh7CREATOR-OWNED HEROES #7
For $3.99, this book just over delivers the goodness with each issue. You get new comic stories, plus a lot of advice for aspiring creators. This is one book you have to get to my comic shop early for on release day or else they run out. With this issue having extra pages at no cost to the cover price, it definitely provides the most bang for your comic buck.

BW_MINUTEM_Cv5_solicit_0MINUTEMEN #5
With team members dead, the group is in shambles and souls are hanging by a thread. This arcs penultimate issue is sure to push the story to new heights and your notion of “heroes” to new lows.

deadpool3aDEADPOOL #3
The twice monthly pace that this book is churning out may be tough to keep up with, but it’s Deadpool vs Richard Nixon; ‘nuf said.

ST_Cv15SWAMP THING #15
The cover alone should get any fan excited, Swamp Things heading to Gotham! The Rotworld event is well under way but this is sure to be the blockbuster issue. Will Swampy find what he seeks in Gotham and what has become of The Dark Knight within the bowls of Rotworld?
